Una Keeley is an Irish artist based in County Wexford. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 1989 with First Class Honours. Her passion for art has taken many forms, including awards for her early Sculptural work, a successful career as a jeweller, and a wide and distinguished career in the field of art education, culminating in a Masters Degree in Art Education in NCAD (National College of Art and Design) 2007.
Keeley was among the first group of artists chosen by the Crafts Council of Ireland for their Crescent Workshops Inaugural Programme in Kilkenny 1989. She also represented Ireland on The Crafts Council’s Canadian Jewellers Exchange. Examples of her public sculpture work can be seen in St. Mary’s Boys School Rathfarnham and in the forecourt of Fingal County Councils head offices Swords Co. Dublin.
Una has worked as a free lance artist for the Irish Museum of Modern Art, for over a decade. This working relationship, saw her design and implement numerous programmes for their Community & Education Department. Her ten-year association with IMMA, , also included a one-year Artist residency on the museums Artist Work Programme.
Keeley has been drawing and painting since age seven, at which time she made the early decision to become an artist. Most recently she has returned to her first love 'painting'.
Organic forms have always featured in her work. The work here brings to bear her considerable design and painting skills, exploring themes of growth, transformation and groundedness.
